When a Plane Crashes.

An airplane accident is usually thought of as a plane crash and is naturally a very serious thing with many fatalities.  However, a crash is not the only accident that can happen on an airplane.  Just like any other mode of transportation, there are incidents where people fall, hurt themselves on equipment, are hurt by airline staff, etc.  Airlines are held to a high standard of public responsibility by the nature of their business, by the federal government and by the courts.
There are airplane accidents also where the plane is landed safely and there are no fatalities like the famous US Air accident when the valiant pilot landed the plane in the Hudson River.  While no one fortunately died in that incident, many people were undoubtedly hurt and their injuries would most likely be deemed at first to be the responsibility of the airline.
In any airplane accident case, there may be many defendants, i.e. the airline, the maintenance company (if separate), an airplane manufacturer, other equipment manufacturer and the list goes on.  If you or a family member have been involved in an airplane accident and have survived you need to see an attorney that is experienced in this type of complex litigation to protect your rights.  If a family member has died in an airplane crash or accident, then you need to see an attorney right away to proceed with a wrongful death suit, as will most of the families of the casualties of that plane crash.  Your attorney can start weeding through the reports of the FAA and the NTSB and other federal agencies investigating to try to determine what did happen and where the liability truly lies.  Your attorney might well work with the other plaintiffs’ attorneys to pull the case together against the defendant, but he will be representing you so that your compensation doesn’t somehow get lost in the massive proceedings.
